Calcium chloride is a water soluble salt which can be used in conjunction with sodium silicate to form hard, insoluble calcium silicate crystals, these crystals can be formed in a card mortar tube to give it extra durability.

Warning
Causes serious eye irritation.

Prevention: Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Wear eye protection.
Response: IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice.
